About Savvyou
Hey there
I’m fellow wanderer! 👋
Remember that moment when you're standing in a foreign train station, completely lost, holding a crumpled map upside down while locals politely try not to laugh? Yeah, we've been there. Actually, that's exactly where Savvyou was born.
Our Story (The Real One)
Savvyou started in 2019 when our founder, after confidently ordering what she thought was chicken soup in Bangkok, ended up with a bowl of something... definitely not chicken. That meal taught her two things: always learn key food words before traveling, and there's got to be a better way to help people travel smarter, not harder.
We're not here to sell you the Instagram version of travel. You know, the one where everyone's hair looks perfect at sunrise on mountaintops. We're here for the real stuff – the missed buses that lead to incredible detours, the street food that changes your life, and yes, even the spectacular fails that become your best stories.
What We're Actually About
We believe travel shouldn't require a trust fund or a sabbatical. Whether you've got two weeks or two days, a shoestring budget or something more comfortable, we're here to help you make it count.
Our mission? To turn you into the savvy traveler you want to be – the one who knows:
- How to find that perfect local spot where the menu isn't in English (and that's a good thing)
- When to splurge and when to save without missing out
- The art of packing light while still having the right outfit for that fancy restaurant
- How to navigate public transport like you were born there
Who's Behind This?
We're a small but mighty team of travel obsessives who've collectively gotten lost in 47 countries (and counting). We've slept in everything from $3 hostels to overwater bungalows, eaten crickets in Cambodia and Michelin-starred meals in Paris, and somehow survived multiple encounters with squat toilets.
Our backgrounds? Former flight attendant turned travel writer. Digital nomad who's been "temporarily" living abroad for six years. Photography enthusiast who takes 3,000 photos per trip (and actually sorts through them). And one reformed over-packer who now travels with just a carry-on – yes, even for three weeks.
Why Trust Us?
Look, we're not going to pretend we've been everywhere or done everything. But here's what we promise:
Real experiences: Every recommendation comes from actual trips, actual meals, actual mistakes. We don't write about places we haven't been.
Honest opinions: That trendy restaurant everyone's raving about? If it's overpriced tourist nonsense, we'll tell you. Found an incredible hole-in-the-wall instead? We'll share the exact alley to turn down.
Practical magic: We skip the fluff and focus on what actually helps. Like how to use Google Translate's camera feature to decode menus, or why Tuesday flights really are cheaper.
What You'll Find Here
- Destination guides that go beyond "Top 10 Things to Do"
- Budget breakdowns that show you exactly where your money goes
- Packing lists tested in real life (not styled for photos)
- Travel hacks that actually work (we've tried the ones that don't so you don't have to)
- Stories from the road – the good, the bad, and the hilariously awful

We're not just building a travel blog; we're building a community of people who believe the best trips aren't always the most expensive ones, that getting lost is half the fun, and that travel should leave you with stories, not just selfies.
Whether you're planning your first solo trip, trying to make the most of your vacation days, or just living vicariously through travel stories from your couch (we've all been there), you belong here.

Because here's the thing: travel isn't just about the places you go. It's about becoming a more savvy you – someone who's confident enough to order the weird-looking street food, clever enough to score the deals, and brave enough to book that ticket.
Ready to get savvy? Let's go explore this ridiculous, beautiful world together.
P.S. – That mysterious "not-chicken" soup in Bangkok? Turned out to be one of the best things we've ever eaten. Sometimes the best adventures start with happy accidents.
